At $10 per active home, the fee is small next to what the same home can carry — a maintenance plan you price yourself — and small enough to build into the home’s cost at closing, if that’s how you want to run it.
There’s no platform fee on homeowner payments — you pay only processing, at our published flat rates: 1.25% for bank (ACH) payments, 3.5% + 30¢ for cards. Those are Afterkey’s all-in rates and include every Stripe processing and payout fee. Bank (ACH) is the method to steer homeowners toward: roughly a third of the card rate, and the homeowner never sees a processing line either way.

Say you have 60 closed homes and sell a $40/month maintenance membership. If every home joins, that is $2,400/month, or $28,800 a year; if half join, $14,400. What counts as an active home?
An active home is one you are actively serving on the platform — it bills $10 per month, flat. Two states are free: prospect homes (past builds you are pitching a membership — outreach and offers only, until they convert) and archived homes (read-only, full history kept, reactivate any time). A prospect converts to active automatically when the homeowner starts a membership or a warranty date is set.
Do older homes cost more?
No. It is $10 per month flat, whether the home is six months old or six years old.
Are there per-user fees?
Never. Unlimited team members and unlimited subcontractors are included in the $149 base. Your headcount does not change your bill.
How does AI billing work?
The AI add-on is $5 per month per active home and includes 8 AI actions per home per month, pooled across all your homes — so a home that needs 20 actions can borrow from homes that need none. An action is one document extraction or one appliance researched from scratch; appliances already in the shared library are free and do not count against the pool. Beyond the pool, actions are $1.50 each, with alerts at 80% and 100% and a $25 overage ceiling that pauses any AI you start. Without the add-on you get 5 free actions per month to try it, and a binder-research pass always shows a cost preview before spending anything.
Does Afterkey take a cut of homeowner payments?
No — there is no platform fee on homeowner payments. When homeowners pay through Afterkey, whether for a membership or a repair invoice, you pay only processing, at our published flat rates: 1.25% for bank (ACH) payments and 3.5% plus 30¢ for cards. Those are Afterkey’s all-in rates and include every Stripe processing and payout fee; bank is listed first everywhere because it is the cheaper rail. On repairs you choose whether the homeowner’s displayed price includes processing or your margin absorbs it; membership dues are one clean price and you cover processing. If you do not process homeowner payments through Afterkey, there is nothing to pay.
Does Afterkey set or cap what I charge homeowners?
No. The membership price, the tiers, and the markup on a paid repair are yours — $20 a month, $40, $60, whatever your market carries. Afterkey never sets them or takes a percentage of them. Membership dues bill monthly to your own account, and paid repairs settle to your account with your markup on them.
Is there a contract?
No. Month-to-month, cancel anytime, no termination fees. There is one simple monthly bill and nothing to commit to up front.
Can prices go up after I sign up?
Not for the first 24 months: your rate is locked from the day you sign up. After that, any increase comes with 60 days’ notice and applies only at your next billing cycle. Increases are never applied mid-term and never retroactively. Prices are published on this page rather than quoted, so you can always see exactly what the plan costs.
Is there a free trial?
No. Afterkey uses a 30-day money-back guarantee instead of a free trial. You subscribe and use the product on your real homes from day one, and if it is not working for you, we refund every dollar Afterkey charged. The only exceptions are the $29 SMS add-on for the phone number you used and any SMS usage over your included allotment — carrier costs for messages already sent cannot be recovered.
